A great day!

I have sewn a cloth to the table using the old plaid fabrics that have been stored in boxes.
I love plaids......but it was a long time since I used them like this :)

I have been in the studio several hours today.......just great!
I tried not to think about all other stuff that have to bee done this time a year.....
enjoy my free time....see snowflakes gently fall....wow.

But...but I have to pull myself together and bake some gingerbread ...
and find that it's quite meditative to stand there making stars, hearts and pigs...... and the aroma spreads in the house...mmmmmmm

...the red fabrics is a projekt I started up today.... a Christmas gift?

Run and Quilt!

Running and quilting go together .... have you tried? Fresh air ... motion and flow allows the brain to get started and ideas come in lots.

That's how it is for me. It's great!
Last time running there appeared a new design from Let's Dance and Cat Walk quilts .. namely
 Let's walk!
A simple sketch is drawn ... We'll see what happens .. if there's something coming out of it?

How do you get inspiration and flow?

Fall holidays

After some thinking.. planing for my days off.... I decided that.....I just do what I long for!
YES!!! :)
So..I want to exercise, sew, read, crochet, make some bread, yoga and..

Outside it's still Fall....a little bit weird because at this time a year there's often snow coming, especially in the mountins. But...no snow in sight.
I have seen flowers that bloom in the summer and trees with leaf bud.
Something is wrong!?

But still I can enjoy the fantastic sunny, foggy weather and the landscapes beautiful dull colors..it's magical.

The sunset is wonderful!

Who could imagine that the grandmother's square would be modern again?
You can make pillows, blankets, sweaters...
I started crocheting with a lovely, soft wool yarn.... a cosy scarf for cold days.
Very fun and easy to make! :)

...and of course...I had a long day in the studio..hours flew away!

Cat walk is progressing.....I did sew some more models in different positions today.

Now it's time to decide how the blocks will be sewn together ...hopefully tomorrow!

Day of rest!

Most days are.....have to do that...have to do that. So I decided this sunday is a day off!
NO MUSTS!
A long sleepy morning.....coffe....a good book.....:)

Hmmmm.....a look into the Studio.
Yes.... why not get started with some UFOs!
My Kaffe Fasset quilt have no border.......Garden Journal.....hmmm.

I started up and time becomes completely irrelevant.
:)
I've had a great day in the studio ... some thinking was done to select the right fabric to the border.
Eventually it became a dull yellow, I think that it highlighted the colors of the quilt.

But it's hard work tooo...

After lying on the floor stitching up the quilt my body felt as after a half marathon. Stiff and sore!

But now it's done.....:)

I only have to quilt!
....and "Catwalk" calls för progress.

Remember me?

There's a long time ago...several weeks and I'm still going strong.I fill my days with the most fun and interest things. Such as painting walls in the garage... preparing the garden for the winter.....meeting friends....work of course......but unfortunately very little done in the studio.
But there is nothing that stop me from thinking and planning while doing everything else:)

So I have been thinking about a trip to Barcelona a few years ago when I was inspired by Picasso himself visiting the museum. What a fantastic museum!  I walked around in there and my brain started create. I saw potential in shapes and colors...in a playful way.

Back home I started and surched a way to make a picture with textile paint and fabrics.
I painted, applicated and printed.

I made a pillow!

...and I also made a small quilt that is missing!!!!!
How I have been looking.....I'm sure that I find it some day in a box that haven't been unpacked since we mowed to this house.
I show it to you some day!

Picasso!

Well, some days I dream...... about being able to make great painting ......hmm no talent.... but I can play with colors and always learn something!

Colors.....I had some fabrics in the mail yesterday.....lovely ones.
Now it's time to sew again!

Look at the painting that shows a mountain village in Provence ...lovely colors..most inspiring!

Lovely Fall

A trip to the mountins a beautiful shiny day in september. You have to take the opportunity when it appears. Sun..no wind..free time..all colors...

When you are tired after a long walk, stop and have good packed lunch...and..

Just lay down in the soft moss.... and listen...to nothing...silence......
It fills your soul and body with power.

And of course, when a quilter is out....I see colors, shapes and all kind of surface that is a great inspiration.

Look at this ......

When I wandered around, I came to think of a quilt I made many years ago. An oldie, which is tucked away in a basket.
A quilt inspired by the colors in Fall and the mountins....

I found it...... among all the old quilts that I almost had forgotten....

Oh..that one...and that...:)

Here it is!

I can't remember what year I made this one.....too bad I didn't signe the quilt with the year.
I have seen a lot of quilts in bloggs made in lovely Fall colors and sure I would like to start one...but how many quilts can you have going on????

Many! OK!

Project Catwalk

Projekt Catwalk turned up a late evening when I had a long and slightly boring time.
I was reading a book by Dalai Lama and I think his thoughts about how to become a happy person was a little bit complicated. Hmmmmmm....so after a while my brain started to "play".
An idea with modells...walking...standing... poseing... just poped up.

Yes.....I grabbed a pen and started to draw.

Since then....

I've done some sketches and tried different lines and expression......I had to figure out how to make the blocks able to sew.

Inspiration needed......

So I bought my very first fashion magazine ever.
Quite interesting!.....a new world for me!

.........and as it usually happens when you start a new project ..... you are without fabric ... must buy some more! :)

I found this lovely Kaffe Fasset fabrics...I couldn't resist!

Well... Today I've spent some time in the studio and tried my way....  this is how
 the first blocks looks.

A start anyway!

Pretty cheeky.........right?

Now I'm excited to continue.... but first.... down to Stockholm and run Tjejmilen.

That will be fun tooo:)

Full of energy and inspiration I took some time to explore whether my idea and
my design would work out.
My sketch is very simple and an overall picture of the quilt is missing!
But when you're impatient, it's only to get started!

It suddenly happend....my sewing machine gave up!!!

It has never happend to me before...I get nuts.

Sooo...what to do now?

Ok, the forest is full of cranberries....out we go!

Me and my daugther Sofie picked 10 l .....great fun.....it was louds of berries! :)

What a great summer it is! :)
Wherever we have been the sun is shining. For the last weeks we have been in Öregrund and I visited Forsa in Hälsingland learning a method to learn children read. Quite interesting!
Now...home again and one of the first thing to do.. except garden...is to sew.

I decided to finish the blue quilt to my brothers daughter who had a child in maj. Hi, grandpa!
A little girl named Amilia!  Soooo qute!

After a long day in the studio I had a nice time sitting in the sun binding the quilt.
I did some stichery too...thought the quilt needed it!

This is the result!

Amilias quilt!

......and the back

.......I love to use different fabrics and left over blocks.....

I quilted it with hearts and circles and stitched Amilias name and year of birth.
....the last thing was to make cross stitches on the red stripe......:)

Done!

......am I out of work now?
No...there's some ufo to finish and a new idea.....
I think I start with it at once........:)

A day at the summer house.

There is much to fuss over in the summer, you have the time and opportunity.

In the garden grows lavender and I usually make wreaths hanging in the house smelling so wonderful.
In the garden there's plums, apples and cherries.

Shall I make some jam...or maybe a cherry pie?

The meadow must be turned with a scythe and our daughter has been given a lesson
by her father how  to do.
The next generation must take over!

Öregrund.....is a lovely place!

Old charming houses everywhere ... a great inspiration for me who likes to sew houses.

Sooo...a day in the studio would be great!

It's a question of layout!

All blocks are finished.....despite vacation and a lot of work in the garden. But late, long and ligth nordic evenings are good in the summer .....already midnight?
This projekt has been a long "slow sewing process" although the block are simple and fast to do.

Why?

It must be the fantastic summer when the most interesting things to do is outdoors. I once brought my sewing machine out in the garden....but no...it wasn't a good idea!

I  can long for a hole day sewing ....... where are the rainy days? Uups.....don't even think it, they will come anyway!

Well, the blocks are on the designwall....but doesn't it look a little bit boring?

I think it need something to make it more interesting.

How about this?

Something happend!

Or this?

I think the bright pink colour is right.

Maybe like this?

There are surely a lot of options, I have to pick one!

This is one of the charming and fun part of working with quiltdesign, don't you think?

Where I sew

I visited Pink Chalk Studio and read about Kathys appeal to let us show our sewing room or place.
It's so fun looking and be inspiered about all fantastic places where quilts are made. Rooms where we dream, plan and create wonderful things. We stach fabrics in many various ways more or less organized.
Our rooms are more or less tidy, and sometimes a chaos. I think it doesn't matter how it look, each sewing room mirrors the creator and that's charming.

Quiltstudio 22 is my place since two years when we build our house, and I had my dream come true....my own studio!

What I like most about my studio is the light and space. The view is fantastic and here is all I need to sew or just dream and plan the next "masterpiece". Most of my fabrics are stored in boxes and organized by colors.

The computer is a  valuable tool ......how did we manage whitout it?

This is how it look in my studio when it is as most creativ :)

I love all my things!

This is the newest in the studio, a shelf with my favorite books!
The next step will be a sink where I can dye and paint fabrics.
