I'm back!

There has been a long time since my last post.
The reason is that I lost my mother in may.
I miss her a lot every day...thoughts and memories.
I have so many things to thank her for.
 One thing.....
It's my mother's doing that I have become a good craftsman.
She's the one who inspired and thought me how and we shared the great joy that it brings to create something unique.

THANK'S MOM!

Well after a while life goes on......even though you don't believe it.
I had promised to participate in an exhibition in  Kaxås, Offerdal. Offerdal is where I grew up.

This is where Lisbeth Genstrand runs a shop with interior
and clothes on their family farm.
A lovely place!

Atelje Lisbeth

You are greeted by a stunning view over the countryside
 and
a Welcome billowing in the wind ...

...you know you found the right place.

Jämtkviltens local group West has combined their quilts for an exhibition and
I was invited to show some of my quilts.

Here are some of their great work!

My ambition was to at least show you one new quilt
but it was not finished....... so it became golden oldies being exhibited.

That's life!

Look at this!

Lisbeth and my Red Cottages in the bakgroud.

In one room hangs Cat Walk and Coltsfoot.

It is a little short on space in the house
so the stairwell may also be used for exhibition space.

Well... if you are passing by....
please check Atelje Lisbeth and revel in lots of quilts and great stuff to buy in the shop.

The exhibition runs until Sunday July 7 at 12.00-15.00

Garden Angel

I would have required a Garden Angel
in my garden this winter. Mice have eaten at my newly planted hedge ....grrrr crazy!

And there it was.........

 I found this little quilt
with Garden Angels stitched in pale colors .. a low volume quilt.
I think it's four years since I sewed it .... and not until now it shows up in a forgotten box.  :)

.......I think I will dress in shocking pink in the garden this season ... or not!

Garden inspiration

Last weekend I was at the garden show in Stockholm .... great fun and a big inspiration.
What a lot of fun to make and grow!
I enjoyed all installations of plants and environments. Colors and shapes endlessly :)

Look at these incredibly beautiful balls of willow and check out
the seed pod of the poppy
 made of steel wire!

 Fantastic!

I had to make one myself!

Said and done ....
I filled it with the moss and a spring flower.

 Not too bad! :)

I've had a day full of fun things to do .....
I've fixed the conservatory with putting the plants in new soil
and I made a bit of styling  among other plants.

.. and I have cleaned the store and guess what I found!

This is a small quilt I made several years ago after a trip to Barcelona
and a visit to the Picasso Museum.
It has been missing since we moved but now it turned up in a forgotten box.

Great fun!

It will probably turn up on the wall!

Finish nr 3

It has been an incredibly lovely week off.
As much as I did! .. including quilt and bound my New Wave. I have been thinking a lot about the pattern to quilt  and ended up in an organic pattern
as a contrast to the quilts design.

..the back...speeks for itself!

....here are some details!
I have embroidered with red stitching to reinforce
the line of the quilt.

When I started this quilt, the idea was that it would match our green sofa...ok, I think!
It's nice to crawl under the the quilt chilly evenings...
  warm and cozy!

.........and it fits nicely in the deckchair in the
 conservatory as well :)

Well...there is more to tell...but another day!

Scrap quilt

My scrap quilt has become bigger than I had in mind.
It was so fun and liberating to sew a bit aimlessly and see how it would develop.
 I got carried away!!!!

The colors are  bright... and....reminding of spring :)

And it surely was a challenge to get the quilt not to become too messy .....!!!

....And what is it about spring and me?

I could'nt stop....I just had to put some coltsfoot on the quilt ... these wonderful spring flowers
that soon will turn up in a sunny slope. :)

I got into trubble.......

I sewed a bunch of blocks of different sizes without thinking that they would fit to sew together.
  Problem .. there it was!
At first I thought that it could be solved by cuttingt the blocks
or sew on some strips to adjust the dimensions???

But ... then I decided to let it be as it was and assemble the quilt on a frame.
Raw, rough edges .....it became a detail that brought the quilt something extra.

Now there's another top ready to be quilted ...... the pile rising again!

I have also been working on the quilt with chairs.... piece by piece... slowly!
I found some of words in magazines to match the quilt ...I'll see what I make of it?

It takes some more sewing before I can show it for you!

Lovely Winter!

Swedish winter at its best.
Cold nights and sunny days with a couple of degrees below zero .... perfect for skiing.
We went to Edsåsdalen, a small mountain village where you can easily get up on the mountain and to ski in a wonderful environment.

Halfway up the mountain, it's time to eat our packed lunch and then rest against the wall of a hut. So nice to sit there and enjoy the view.
On the way, I found a small sign warning for moose!
Huh .. I'll swerve if there is a moose?

Husband fixes the backpack and take a breather....
...while the wife tries to find a good camera angle.
...rather special!!!

Oops .... a crash .... then it might be just as well to linger a while
and enjoy the view and philosophize a while.

Consequently, there hasn't been much sewing .....

.... but I have anyway sewed these blocks into a project
 with other quilters in Jämtkvilten.

...and soon it's Easter...:)

What a mess!

What a mess ... maybe I can call it a creative touch
but I don't know if that's entirely true.
I have been working a lot in the studio this weekend
and on several projects at the same time.

An unusual way for me to work but quite liberating in some way.

..... but there are limits .. right?

Anyway the project where I work with my leftovers is progressing.
I try to use even small pieces .. they can be sewn together!
That's the charm with scrap quilts, isn't it?

This is a part of it......

Still...my chair quilt is in progress too...

This one requires concentration and mind power ...phew ..
considering options in design and colors .. discard and start over.
Then it's so liberating to take on the scrap quilt...

...but the quilt is emerging bit by bit.

In a corner lies a quilt ready to be quilted .... but I'm still not sure ...
... the soft organic forms or strict geometric .... hmmm?

A great week!

This week has been all through a success!

Everything I wished and planned for has come true.

Our children has been at home...
I have been skiing a lot!
I've had time to spend quality time with my old parents.
I have planted about my flowers in fresh soil.
Some shopping....but no fabrics!
The weather has been great...sunny...cold...and snow.
and many hours in the studio!!! :)

I feel like......

Well rested and happy .. free from work .... then the urge to create something
comes like a letter in the mail.
The first thing I did was throw my project with chairs in the trash.
Away with it!
Leaving on a project where the inspiration has run out......
and up with new fresh fabrics and colors. :)

It felt so good to start up again with new fresh eyes..... and now the pieces fall to place.......

 You get a little peek!

One day I was leafing through a magazine and saw this picture.

Dare to be dramatic.....
is in the image and on the floor is a carpet that gave me the idea.
I have long thought it would be fun to do something of all the leftover pieces of fabric.
 I have a lot!!!!!!
You have them too, I'm sure?
So I poured out some of them on the floor and began to sew
trying to take something in the pile without planning .. but that's not easy!

...........the first block.....

...and after a while...

This is a fun no strings attached way to sew .... full of playfulness among all colors.

We'll see where it carries away!!!

Happy Quilting!
