Happy New Year!

I wish you all the best in 2016.
Thanks to all of you who have visit my blog. And thanks for your kind comments.
I hope that 2016 will be the year when creativity will flow and many fabulous quilts
will be sewn all over the world.
More quilts and fewer wars, it would be a dream.

And.... I'm sure more love in the world will make a difference.

The days before Christmas there was a package in my mailbox.
I want to start the year with some inspiring new fabrics. I don't know yet what will become of them but it's great just to watch and combine them with other fabrics.

 A good start ..

I hope to see a lot of you during 2016!

Happy Quilting!

Finish nr 2

Finally my quilt Leaves is finished. It took a while!
It started about seven years ago!!
It was my 50 th birthday and my dear friends took me to an artist in Uppsala.
We had a weekend learning how to work with glass.

This is one of my pieces I made that weekend.

It is this stylized leaves that inspired me to start thinking of sewing a quilt.
It has been a long process but now my quilt finally is finished.

The Quilt measures 37x57 inches.
I decided not to buy any new fabrics for this project.
My layer of fabric is large.... very large!

Some of the fabrics are from my mum and dad's old shirts, it feels good.

Unfortunately, the images are not of the best quality.
The light was too bad .... autumn darkness makes photography a challenge.

Well..I hope you got a decent picture of the quilt.
It has been a fun project to implement.
I developed the pattern by starting from a sketch and then build the block.
I've used one template and otherwise built blocks in a free manner.
Namely sewing, cutting, sewing!!
A way to work that I really love!

And now....scary...I have no idea for my next quilt!
But you never know when inspiration strikes. I am an optimist!

Happy Quilting!

Still here!

Hi there!

Days..weeks...months..time flies!
But it's always time that I fill with stuff that matter to me.
So here I am..after a summer to remember.
Many happy memories to  cherish.

Time with family and my dearest grandchild, Selma.
A lot of time in the garden.
Time by the sea and in the mountins.

 Oops!
In the mountins I met this cute one!

But how about sewing then?
No....I have never ever spent so little time sewing!
I think!!!!

So you can imagine that I'm very eager to sew
 and create something new.

Well..I have done some stichery.
I saw a pillow in a store and figured out that it couldn't be that hard to make myself.
But .....it has been a long journey.

A lot of fish to be done!

I sew chain stitch, tight, tight and I try to use the embroidery thread that I already have in my collection.
No buying this time!

A fun project to be finished in a near future.

I also quilted my latest quilt...Leaves.

Made by mashine and in a circular movement and shape.

I hope to show you the finished quilt soon!

See you around!

Sunny days!

I promised to tell you what I do sunny days!
To work in the studio isn't my first choise
when the sky is blue.
Unfortunal too many days has been rainy here
in Sweden so far.
But anyway...there has been a lot of days in the garden, digging, planting and making some "garden stuff"
 of willow.

Such as...

A ball made of shaped willow.
Flowers climb on it in the garden.
In the pot there's another way to support a climbing plant.

I planted this flowers but the wind was though for them.
So I made these creations to give them support.

One day me and a lovely friend made this
poppy capsule of wire.

The idea is for it to rust beautifully
and a plant climb up the capsule.
We'll see the result later this summer.

Some more things that makes life wonderful!

Two days in the mountins with the family....lovely days!

And look....did you know there's a wine called Patchwork.
I had to tast it! No sensation but totaly ok!

Have a nice summer!

Finished top!

Sometimes it's good when it's a rainy day or days!
I'm the kind of person who nearly always choose to be outdoor when the sun is shining.
This week the rain poured down for two days....so what to do?

Absolutely no gardening!...

...but I've had two days in the studio. It has been a long time since last time.
I started a quilt with leaves several months ago and there it was...unfinished!

I think I nearly forgot how fun sewing is!!!!!

Well, after two days indoor the top is finished!

Time did fly...

This is a quilt made in soft colors and it it measures 37x58 inches.
Maybe it'll be some sort of border or completion, but I have to do some thinking about that for a while .... until the next rainy day.

Here are some details and a view from my coffe corner in the garden.

Well...this is what I've done  rainy days....but what happens the sunny ones?

I'll tell you next post.

Happy Quilting!

Finished Quilt!

I've done it!

After at least a year Curvy Ladies is finally finished.
It has been a long process working on the design, seeing the quilt
slowly emerging from concept to completion.

I know that the idea of this quilt came when Catwalk with the tiny models was finished.
You can see that quilt at my Gallery.
I thought....Curvy  ladies are so much more natural.

So...here it is!

The quilt is 37 x 46,5 inches, 94 x 118 cm.
I've used both regular quilt fabrics and fabrics that I printed and painted myself.
It's quilted on the mashine and with cotton batting in between the layers.

This was a scary part of the work......
I dripped and poured paint over the top and hoped that it would succeed.

It did!!!

The shadows behind the women are sewn with a dark thread
and with tiny, tiny movements all over the surface.

The quilting patterns are leaves pendant along a winding stem
and some parts are quilted in a tightly lined pattern.
This to achieve a contrast and a more exciting surface of the quilt.

This woman is in a position to show that she is a person of courage and self-esteem.

I like that!

This is the back of the quilt and a detail of the quilting.

Well....I hope you've enjoyed looking at my latest quilt!

Happy Quilting!

An idea!

Have you ever woken up during the night
and clearly seen a block or a quilt for your inner eye?

It happened to me last night...and it wasn't the first time.
I figured out how to make it and what colors I would use ....blue...plaids....and white.

Sometimes I get up and make a simple sketch and notes...
but this time I thought.....
I remember..... and felt asleep again.

Sweet dreams!

Well...next morning....I opened my blue....and...Yes, I remembered!

I spend a lot of time in the studio this weekend and nine blocks is sewn.

Leaves.....blue leaves!

Why green?

I made a simple template of paper and started my project!

This was so fun and easy to sew!

I love it!

I carry on and see how it will turn out.

Happy Quilting!

Great weekend!

Some weekends are greater than others...but what makes it so great?

Well, this is some of my best wishes!

A lovely winter day.....the sun is there, but so soft....
...the snow is cold.....

The snow sparkles and the ski trail leads out into nature.
A few hours in the sun and lovely exercise gives energy to sew and create something new in the studio.

Back at home, after a shower......and a cup of coffee.

The progress on my ''Curvy ladies'' is slow .... the top is ready but I would love to work with the surface to get the quilt expression more exciting.
I've used fabric paint and splash and dripped onto the fabric. Scary ... it was difficult to control the outcome.

I have to do some thinking before continue......so

Why not make some flower arrangements?

I've bought a large armful of tulips, cherry twigs, bamboo and bulbs.
It's so much fun to use various vases and bowls
 and make small floral artwork.
Working with color and shape and feel that spring
is coming soon enough.

This is the result ..... standing on the table with a table top made of concrete that I did last summer.

Happy Quilting!

A new year!!

A new year is here!!!!
....and I really look forward to what it brings.

See a baby grow...

Selma is laying on her quilt.....adorable feet.

I promised you pictures of Selmas quilt...and now there's light  enough to take pictures.......oh, this dark country!
But I think I can imagine that the light has
come back a little, little tiny bit.

This time I choose green, red and blue colors.
Some Kaffe Fassett fabrics joined with
several other designs.

Some applique and stitching to make
  the finishing touch.

I used left overs to the back and quilted on machine.

Here are some details!

There's a lot of pictures taken this weekend....

........it's no wonder if Selma want to flee the field.

See you around!
